Denver DUI Bond Schedule
Denver uses a set bond schedule for DUI cases. First time offenders with no priors may qualify for personal recognizance bonds. The PR bond amount for DUI is $1,500. DWAI with no priors also uses $1,500 PR bond.
Cases with prior DUI or DWAI convictions require judicial bond setting. A judge sets the amount at first appearance. This ensures repeat offenders are reviewed individually. The court considers flight risk and public safety.
Driving under restraint for alcohol or drug reasons carries a $350 bond. This applies when your license is already suspended. The court takes these violations seriously.
Note: Bond amounts can change. Call the court to confirm current rates before going.
Denver Specialty Courts for DUI
Denver County Court runs several specialty programs. The Sobriety Treatment Court focuses on DUI offenders. It combines treatment with judicial monitoring. Participants attend regular court sessions.
Other specialty courts include Community Outreach Court, Wellness Court, and Competency Diversion. Each addresses specific offender needs. They aim to reduce recidivism through targeted intervention.
Not everyone qualifies for specialty court. Eligibility depends on case factors and criminal history. The court reviews each application. Successful completion may lead to better outcomes.
These programs reflect Denver's approach to DUI cases. Treatment and accountability go together. The goal is public safety through rehabilitation.
Denver DMV DUI Process
The DMV process is separate from criminal court. After a DUI arrest, you have seven days to act. Request a hearing to challenge license suspension. This applies to breath test refusals or blood test results.
Under CRS 42-2-126, the Express Consent Law requires chemical testing. Refusal leads to automatic license revocation. You get a Persistent Drunk Driver designation. This requires Level II treatment and ignition interlock.
Request a DMV hearing through mydmv.colorado.gov. The Hearings Division handles these matters. Their website is at cdor.colorado.gov.
The hearing only addresses your driving privileges. It does not affect your criminal case. Both processes run at the same time. You need to manage both carefully.
